purpose of this page

i made this with other touhou fans in mind so i won't be going super in-depth with explaining everything, this is mostly just where i dump my opinions and gush about a game series i like

Wtf Is A Touhou

touhou is a multimedia project spanning games, manga, and music cds. the games are mainly bullet hell so everyones like "ahhh that sounds scary and complex" but its ok dont worry.. people that make fun of easy mode players are weak willed and will not survive the winter never feel bad about playing easy mode. hell you dont need to play the games (not even in chronological order) the dialog is very accesible on the touhou wiki and everyone should listen to touhou music anyways even if they dont wanna play the games...

i always sorta knew what touhou was (exposure thru otoMADs, bad apple, etc) but i started actively looking into it when i was 13. i immediately loved the games and the music was unlike anything ive heard before. seeing that the doujin music scene ran so deep only made my love for its music even greater. all of the characters are so weird and i think thats so awesome. i dont really have a deep reason for having utsuho as my favorite character, shes just really cool and a bit silly and i think it describes me pretty well (Implying That Im Cool)

thinking about it now though i might replace a brave and leisurely beast with AN ORDEAL FROM GOD because holy hell its so underrated. i remember hearing that song and then a few years later playing touhou unreal mahjong and being like Oh Shit They Put That Song In Here Too

HRtP music opinions

Unsolicited Opinion Warning but i think (sometimes) the original hrtp ost kicks more ass than the akyuu/MS remasters. shoutouts to that one time oriental magician got stuck in my head for like 12 hours its such a haunting ass song especially when it goes quiet.. i admit im also pretty biased where some keys in music are more appealing to me than others like to me the akyuu version of konngaras theme is a little bit "eh" to me because the key was changed from the original. i think that og hrtp's music sounds actually more powerful in the context of its sound driver (MDRV98? correct me if im wrong). there are some exceptions though like the akyuu/MS ver of strange oriental discourse kicks so much assssss!!!!! i love music

new music ramble

i kinda hate whenever people are like "zuns music fell off since idolatrize world" Girl what the hell are you talking about. saw a few people on touhou 18.5 ost's comments saying it was mid in some way and that is just so incorrect? hundredth black market is so fucking awesome and im sorry that some people cant see it... Another thing: MORE PEOPLE GOTTA TALK ABOUT TABOO JAPAN DISENTANGLEMENT?!?! ITS SO GOOD?!?!? Where are the taboo marionette arranges PLEA;SE also the concealed four seasons arrange had me doing backflips Wow i really think people should listen to zuns albums more

Highly Responsive To Prayers

i think a lot of people are sleeping on HRtP actually. fun but hard for sure. genuinely has anyone ever lunatic no death/no bombed it (not counting spliced footage) because reimus Stupid Fucking Ball hits you every 5 seconds. i dunno but i remember when i first picked up hrtp after just being a passive observer of it i was like "wait shit this is actually great" and i really came to appreciate the music. makai route feels like that one image of "spunchbob took 40 benadryls" to me i dont know how to explain it. also i love the sariel boss fight like when it changes color palettes for no reason?? peak.

Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream

its kind of hard to explain why you love something without sounding repetitive, right? i love PoDD because it has really fun characters, a simple yet silly premise, some incredible bangers, and it has a very odd atmosphere that i just generally really like. gameplay is fine too of course, though it does have its shortcomings (but hey who really cares it was a pc98 game it can be a little bit wonky). as much as id love to talk about strawberry crisis im gonna bring up lost dream Why is it so beautiful?!?!? i like how PoDD feels really goofy but suddenly it'll hit you with some really gloomy or otherwise intense song that changes the mood entirely, though i guess thats just the pc98 games in general... sometimes i'll see yumemi and i'll be like holy hell shes so badass but then i remember she's just a college professor trying to prove magic is real by beating up everyone in gensokyo LOL

MS music room titles?!

i noticed something about the HRtP arranges in Mystic Square's music room, i don't think it's been documented on the wiki so i think it would be interesting to share!

in short, after every title is a specific "arrange" descriptor.. so here's all of em listed
